Sad news everyone, “Hellcats” has officially been cancelled by The CW. The series finale will air tonight.

We’ve got good news, and we’ve got bad news. The bad news is that The CW’s freshman series “Hellcats” has been canceled, as first reported by Deadline. The cheerleading drama, executive produced by “Smallville” star Tom Welling and Kevin Murphy and led by former Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka was one of Zap2it’s early favorites in the 2010-2011 season.

Unfortunately, the series floundered undeniably in its back nine episodes, relying heavily on gimmicks (like Zombies and musical numbers) and stunt casting (A.J. Though when Hellcats returns with all new episodes on April 19th Dan (Matt Barr) and Savannah (Ashley Tisdale) are very much in a good place, relationship-wise, series star Aly Michalka couldn’t help but express her interest in seeing Marti get back together with Dan.

“You get really attached to these characters,” Michalka said during a press conference for the show today in Los Angeles. “You want Marti and Dan to have that relationship because they’re this perfect yin and yang to each other.
