Aly Exits NBC Pilot ‘Undateable’

Looks like Aly has left the pilot “Undateable”. While this is a bummer, I’m sure Aly will land more exciting projects in the future. Read below:

Bill Lawrence has made an 11th hour tweak to his NBC comedy pilot Undateable.

Hellcats actress Aly Michalka has exited the project for creative reasons and has been replaced by Cougar Town‘s Briga Heelan, TVLine has learned.

Heelan, who is already tied to Lawrence’s TBS pilot Ground Floor (methinks BL is a Heelan fan), will technically appear as a guest star in Undateable.

The project, written by Adam Sztykiel (Due Date, Made of Honor), centers on Danny (Chris D’Elia) and Justin (Brent Morin), two very different guys who are bonded by their common inability to attract women.

Aly Cast in NBC Comedy Pilot “Undateable”

Great news! Aly has been cast in the NBC comedy pilot “Undateable”! Congrats to Aly!!! Read more below:

EXCLUSIVE: Rules Of Engagement‘s Bianca Kajlich and Aly Michalka (Hellcats) have joined Undateable, NBC’s multicamera comedy pilot from Bill Lawrence and Warner Bros TV. Written by Adam Sztykiel based on the book by Ellen Rakieten & Anne Coyle, Undateable is described as a bromantic comedy about Danny (Chris D’Elia) and Justin (Brent Morin) — two very different guys who are bonded by their common inability to attract women. Kajlich, repped by UTA, The Collective and Warren Dern, plays Danny’s (D’Elia) older sister Leslie, a divorced single mom who works as a wine rep to get free booze and meet guys; a straight shooter, she tells it like it is. Michalka, repped by CAA and Principato-Young, plays Maddie, an attractive waitress in Justin’s (Morin) bar who is endlessly attracted to jerks and bad pickup lines … but could she have a sweet spot for Justin? Kajlich is the latest Rules Of Engagement star to book a pilot, joining David Spade and Patrick Warburton. As original cast members, the trio’s deals are up at the end of this season. Additionally, newer Rules cast member Adhir Kalyan also landed a pilot gig in second position. Michalka will next be seen in Grown Ups 2.

“Sequoia” Will Soon Hit the Festival Circuit

According to a recent interview with Jessica Latham, one of the producers of Aly’s upcoming movie “Sequoia”, Jessica revealed that the movie will soon be hitting the festival circuit! How exciting! So happy for Aly! I’m sure this will be great! Check out part of the interview below that mentions the movie!

Her next project, on which she served as executive producer, is a feature-length film called “Sequoia.”

“It’s ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ meets ‘Juno,’” Latham said. “The lead character, the female, is a really whipsmart, Juno-esque girl … and her crazy, dysfunctional family goes on a road trip to chase after her.”

The film, which includes Amarillo oral surgeon Dr. William Graves on its production team, is in post-production now and will soon hit the festival circuit. It stars Aly Michalka of the pop duo Aly & AJ, Dustin Milligan (“90210”), Joey Lauren Adams (“Chasing Amy”) and, in a small part, Lou Diamond Phillips.

Latham said she’s found her calling in film production.

“It complements my skill set,” she said. “I’m a really good organizer of people, and that’s kind of what it’s all about, finding projects and talent, and once you find those special projects, attaching all the right people to it to make it happen.”

After a bit of digging Kayla & I found out the working title of Aly’s new movie as well as a description of the movie’s plot. You can read the article below:

The movie is a story about life and love and how the very relationships that tear people apart may also be the only thing that can save them, and is centered on a 21-year-old left unsupported in the face of cancer and who wants to commit suicide in the park, her favorite place in the world.
