“Hellcats” Star To Appear On “CSI: NY”

Aly Michalka — best known for her starring role in the CW’s short-lived cheer drama Hellcats — has snagged a guest role on CSI: NY next fall. The young actress will play a hard rocker named Miranda in the series, which returns to CBS on Sept. 23.

Here’s the description: She’s a rocker who “explodes onto the stage of New York’s hottest underground clubs.” (Yep, Michalka sings!) Her character is questioned by the CSI team when the guy she’s been dating is found murdered.

Her episode will air Sept. 30. Michalka’s credits also include Easy A and the TV series Phil of the Future. (Source)

78violet Update

Hey Guys,

Sorry it’s been so long since we’ve blogged. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten about you!! As you may already know, Hellcats has been cancelled, but we truly appreciate the support you gave us. We are very proud of the first season and it was an incredible experience! We have made lifelong friends, which is always a good thing! J We are fully focused on the next album. You all have been so patient and understanding. J We know alot of you have been with us from the beginning and it seems like just yesterday when we released Into The Rush. The music we have been making lately is such a progression from what we have done in the past, but without leaving behind who we are.

The weather has been beautiful here in California and we’ve been seeing so many dear friends lately. AJ is headed to London in June and will also be traveling through St. Tropez and Cannes. She can’t wait to meet our French fans. Of course, I’m a lil jealous since I won’t be joining her, but she is taking a special trip with a friend.

Also don’t forget to mark your calendars for Super 8 coming to theaters June 10th!!! We just got the new Ipad 2 and have been playing with the cool Super 8 app. We are so hooked Anyway, we will try and be more consistent with writing you! Send in questions that we can answer on our next blog and follow us on Twitter @78violet. We love you! Xo Aly and AJ

“Hellcats” Cancelled: What Season 2 Would Have Been

Yes, it’s true, Lancer University fans. The CW has pulled the plug on “Hellcats” after a ratings slump in the second half of the season, leaving us with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of Tuesday’s Season 1 finale, in which Marti discovered that her long lost sister, Dierdre, has been keeping an important secret: their father is alive and in touch.

A few weeks ago, Zap2it attended a press junket with the cast and Kevin Murphy, the creator of “Hellcats,” who let us in on a few of his Season 2 plans. At the time, Murphy expressed confidence in a Season 2 pickup, telling reporters that the network and studio were supportive of extending the series.

Now that the show has been axed, here’s a bit of what you would have seen had the series lived on. Continue reading “Hellcats” Cancelled: What Season 2 Would Have Been

“Hellcats” Has Been Cancelled, Series Finale Airs Tonight

Sad news everyone, “Hellcats” has officially been cancelled by The CW. The series finale will air tonight.

We’ve got good news, and we’ve got bad news. The bad news is that The CW’s freshman series “Hellcats” has been canceled, as first reported by Deadline. The cheerleading drama, executive produced by “Smallville” star Tom Welling and Kevin Murphy and led by former Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka was one of Zap2it’s early favorites in the 2010-2011 season.

Unfortunately, the series floundered undeniably in its back nine episodes, relying heavily on gimmicks (like Zombies and musical numbers) and stunt casting (A.J. Michalka and Ciara) and shelving the intriguing love triangle that was the heart of the initial episodes. Continue reading “Hellcats” Has Been Cancelled, Series Finale Airs Tonight

Hellcats’ Aly Michalka is a Marti & Dan “shipper”

Though when Hellcats returns with all new episodes on April 19th Dan (Matt Barr) and Savannah (Ashley Tisdale) are very much in a good place, relationship-wise, series star Aly Michalka couldn’t help but express her interest in seeing Marti get back together with Dan.

“You get really attached to these characters,” Michalka said during a press conference for the show today in Los Angeles. “You want Marti and Dan to have that relationship because they’re this perfect yin and yang to each other. And they would have these adorable, tow-headed babies! It’s good.” Continue reading Hellcats’ Aly Michalka is a Marti & Dan “shipper”
